Rutgers S.A.F.E.T.Y. Clinic
WWPSA’s primary mission is to provide a safe soccer experience for our children. To this end, we are sponsoring the Rutgers SAFETY Clinic for parents and coaches. The Rutgers SAFETY Clinic (Sports Awareness For Educating Today’s Youth) is a three-hour program that meets the "Minimum Standards for Volunteer Coaches Safety Orientation and Training Skills Programs" (N.J.A.C. 5:52) and provides partial civil immunity protection to volunteer coaches under the "Little League Law" (2A:62A-6 et. seq.). Over 140,000 parent coaches have completed this program in New Jersey.
In accordance with the stipulations in the Little League Law, the Rutgers SAFETY Clinic:
- helps coaches minimize the risk of injury to young athletes
- provides information about fundamental coaching concepts which enhances volunteer coaches’ effectiveness
- protects volunteer coaches from civil lawsuits
The SAFETY Clinic should be taken by all adults participating in youth sports. The course applies to all sports and must be taken only once by an individual. The WWPSA session will be held August 28 from 6:30 to 9:30 PM at the West Windsor Library. All are welcome. The fee is $25. This payment is sent entirely to Rutgers to support development of child safety programs. WWPSA will reimburse all WWPSA coaches and assistant coaches who complete the course.
Please register for this important session. If you have any questions, please contact Paul St. Amour.
