WWPSA welcomed 218 teams from five states on May 31 - June 1 as the 14th Annual Sunburst Soccer Tournament was held to high standards to improve over last year’s success. While a brief thunderstorm interrupted the festivities, we were able to continue, soldier on and ended up with a solid first day; the second day was glorious fun as the kids played in the PUMA Misting Tent at Headquarters and all games were played as scheduled.

Zach Thornton, the GK for the New York Red Bulls, came on Sunday afternoon to meet the kids, sign autographs and hand out trophies to several flight Champions and Finalists. We want to thank our friends at PUMA for arranging Zach’s visit!

We had more vendors, deals on PUMA merchandise and food available than last year, and the Official Sunburst 2008 Merchandise nearly sold out after one day! We’re now going to meet and discuss what went right, what could have gone better and what proposals we’d like to pursue to make Sunburst 2009 even better.

Thank you to our Tournament Directors, HQ volunteers, Field Marshals, Merchandise volunteers and all others who made this year’s tournament a lot of fun and a huge win for WWPSA soccer!
