The West Windsor-Plainsboro Soccer Association cordially invites boys and girls teams U-08 through U-16 to participate in our 15th Annual Sunburst Soccer Tournament on May 30 - 31, 2009. This is a New Jersey Youth Soccer-sanctioned unrestricted tournament, so US Youth Soccer player passes and U.S. Club passes are permitted. West Windsor is located in Central New Jersey and is easily accessible by several major interstate highways.
The Sunburst Tournament has traditionally drawn 200+ teams from throughout New Jersey, Delaware, New York, Pennsylvania and Connecticut. Each age group typically includes multiple flights to allow for competitive play at all levels. The Tournament Committee makes every attempt to flight teams to provide the appropriate level of competition for all participating teams. All teams are guaranteed 4 games and a 3-person referee crew is utilized for all U-11 to U-16 games. All games are played at one central location at Mercer County Park in beautiful West Windsor, New Jersey.

What Happened at Sunburst 2008
To celebrate WWPSA’s newly-formed partnership with the NJ Wildcats, a semi-pro women’s soccer team in our area, the Wildcats granted free admission to all players participating in Sunburst and 1/2 price tickets ($5) to accompanying adults to either of the 2 home games the Wildcats scheduled for Sunburst Weekend. Games were played at Robbinsville High School, right around the corner from the tournament site on Rt. 526. Click here for directions. Gates opened at 4 PM Saturday and Sunday, with games starting at 5 PM: Sat, May 31 vs. Fredericksburg Lady Gunners; Sun, June 1 vs. Northern Virginia Majestics.
In addition, our friends from PUMA brought several activities and events, including an appearance by Zach Thornton, a GK with the New York Red Bulls, free giveaways, tournament-only discounts on merchandise purchases, and more. The extremely popular misting tent was a HUGE hit, and the free tournament shirt customization was so popular we’re asking them to return for both tournament days in 2009. The folks at Fountain Drinks were also on-hand both days with free drinks for the thirsty tournament patrons. Thanks, PUMA!

WWPSA welcomed 218 teams from five states on May 31 - June 1 as the 14th Annual Sunburst Soccer Tournament was held to high standards to improve over last year’s success. While a brief thunderstorm interrupted the festivities, we were able to continue, soldier on and ended up with a solid first day; the second day was glorious fun as the kids played in the PUMA Misting Tent at Headquarters and all games were played as scheduled.
