C. DRIVING and PARKING

PLEASE HELP US BY PARKING FIRST, THEN WALK YOUR CHILDREN TO THE FIELDSThe safety of our children is more important than our personal convenience. Therefore, please DRIVE SLOWLY, watch out for children, be considerate and park ONLY in designated parking areas. Please do not park on the grass and PLEASE DO NOT DROP OFF OR PICK UP CHILDREN ALONG THE ROAD. Please pass this message to anyone who may be driving to the fields. Finally, please do not wait in your car at the side of the field for your children - this creates a real hazard and potential danger to others.

D. WHAT TO BRING/ WEAR

Players should wear their WWPSA Uniform, either their uniform from Fall 2007 or their new uniform for 2008. All players are required to provide their own:

  • Shin guards - must be worn inside socks.  PLAYERS WITHOUT SHINGUARDS WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO PARTICIPATE.
  • Soccer cleats or sneakers. Baseball or metal cleats are not allowed
  • Soccer ball. Please write your child’s name on the ball using a permanent marker.  Appropriate soccer ball sizes are as follows: PreK to 1st Grade = Size 3;   2nd-5th Grade = Size 4;  6th-8th Grade = Size 5.
  • Eyeglass straps (if they wear glasses)
  • Drinks (water is best)
  • Mouthpieces are optional

Cleats, shinguards and soccer balls may be purchased from our sponsor, Dick’s Sporting Goods.

E. WHAT NOT TO BRING/ WEAR

Please - NO PETS

Jewelry of any kind (including small stud earrings) and hard casts may not be worn during practices or games. Players with recently pierced ears cannot participate until the earrings can be removed, so please plan accordingly.  Do not have your child’s ears pierced before the season at such time as would prevent the earrings from being removed at the time of the first session.

F. WEATHER CANCELLATIONS

Please check our website (http://www.wwpsa.org) for session cancellations due to the weather and park closures. Cancellations will be announced by 8:00 AM for Saturday sessions and by 3:00 PM for Wednesday sessions. There will be no phone chain announcements of these cancellations.

G. WHAT IS SPRING REC ALL ABOUT ?

For our K-8 Saturday sessions, the primary goal is to provide an unstructured yet safe and fun environment for our players. Following warm up activities delivered by our professional trainers, there will be small-sided pick-up games where we let the kids simply play. Volunteer parents will help supervise these pick-up games. No coaching is required. In fact, our goal for the pick-up games is to "Let Them Play," simply to  enjoy playing the game in an informal setting. Please bear this in mind when watching your children play.  They will enjoy their games more without "coaching" and direction from the sidelines.  Volunteers can be easily identified as they will be wearing WWPSA black or white recreational coaching shirts.  Even if you did not volunteer, there are occasions when we may ask for help to supervise a game. You are not obligated to help but, if you do, you will enjoy the experience.

H. AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE TO ALL ADULTS

WWPSA is extremely thankful to the Sarnoff Corporation for their continued and generous support in permitting use of their fields for our programs.  In order to continue to enjoy this benefit, we need your support by obeying simple driving courtesies, following parking rules (KEEP OFF THE GRASS) and by helping us keep Sarnoff clean and free of litter.  Your consideration is greatly appreciated.

Finally, we encourage parents and guardians to stay at the fields with their children. However, should you leave your child at the field, it is your responsibility to collect them at the end of the session in a timely fashion.
