K-12 Saturday Sessions

The primary goal of our Saturday sessions is to provide an unstructured yet safe and fun environment for our players. Following warm up activities delivered by our professional trainers, there will be small-sided pick-up games where we let the kids simply play.

While we try not to place too many limitations on these pick-up games, we will separate boys and girls in the 4th-8th grades. We hope that this decision will encourage as many girls in 4th through 8th grades to participate as possible.

Volunteers

In Spring 2010, Our biggest difference is that we are moving to using a Professional Trainer and Big Brothers / Big Sisters at each field to lead the skill exercises before the open play. If you are a parent that feel they must coach please contact recexec@wwpsa.org or deprec@wwpsa.org and we will handle on a case by case basis.

We are seeking the following volunteers to help us to provide the Spring Recreational Soccer Program:

Pre-K (Saturdays)
Pre-K sessions are run entirely by professional trainers. Therefore, parent coaches are not involved. However, we do need your help in the following positions:

Spring Pre-K Program Coordinator to help respond to questions and with organization tasks including uniform distribution.

K-12th (Saturdays)

Field Supervisors: On Saturdays, the two (2) 90-minute sessions will begin with developmental soccer activities under the direction of our professional trainers along with Big Brothers and Big Sisters in age-appropriate groups as follows:

    • Kindergarten

    • 1st Grade

    • 2nd & 3rd Grades

    • 4th-8th Grades

    • 9th-12th Grades (9am only)

Following these training sessions, players will be divided into small groups for pick-up games. This year we have beefed up our big brother and big sisters who will lead the skill development and games before the open play. We will still need volunteer supervisors for the pick-up games.  Please note that 9th-12th Grade players will be supervised entirely by parent volunteers.

We are asking only those parents who can commit to the majority of sessions to volunteer as coaches to minimize the amount of midweek management. Volunteer coaches who can commit and are interested to develop their coaching skills will be encouraged to work together with the professional trainers and big brothers / big sisters for the warm-up sessions. As needed, we will schedule  additional Coaches Clinic to help give the coaches the guidance they need to make them more effective at teaching the game.

Uniform Distribution: At the beginning of the season, we will require a number of volunteers to assist with uniform distribution.

If you are interested to volunteer to help run the Spring Rec Program, please contact John Slater at SpringRec@wwpsa.org or Andy at execdirector@wwpsa.org.
