SPRING REC 2010 HOME PAGE
Updated 25th April

Welcome to the Spring Recreational Soccer homepage.

SPRING Registration is still open! There are no late fees for new families and there is still limited room in the 11:30 pre k program and plenty of room in the K-12 programs.

Please note that Spring K-12 Spring Soccer is fundamentally different to the Fall Rec program.  In the Spring, players participate in weekend soccer training activities followed by informal pick-up games supervised by volunteer parents.  There are no pre-set teams (as in the Fall Rec season).  Instead, players are divided into small groups based on grade and gender and play in small-sided games.  The format is simple, fun and intended to "Let them Play".  Read on below for more information.

Uniform Distribution is complete and there are limited sizes left. All remaining requests should be sent to rec@wwpsa.org and after May 3rd, no uniform changes or refunds will be granted.

About Spring Rec Soccer
Why is this program different ? Updated Apr 25, 2010

The WWPSA Spring Recreational Soccer is different to the Fall Program. There are no pre-assigned teams with parent coaches, no set game schedule and no referees. This is very deliberate.

Let Them Play !

The Spring Rec program began a few years ago with the desire to recreate, with as few limitations as possible, the unstructured style of "street soccer" enjoyed by kids throughout the world. Children of all ages, boys and girls, play "pick-up" games on streets, parking lots, school playgrounds, and local parks. They organize their own games, decide the playing area, choose teams, set up goals, develop their own rules, and just play. Often, there are no adults present and there is never any coaching. Many of the world’s greatest players in the past and present learned the game in this environment.
