Greetings 2nd – 12th grade parents!

As the Fall Rec Season approaches, we are sending out this email to all of the 2nd grade - 12th grade families to remind them of important, upcoming events. We are looking forward to all the excited faces we will see in a few weeks. We have put together a checklist and some commonly asked questions to ensure a proper kickoff to the season.

What do I need to have ready for the Season ?
  • Shin Guards
  • Soccer cleats (preferred) or sneakers that that can get muddy
  • A Soccer Ball with you child’s name on it (2nd Size 3, 3rd- 6th Size 4, 7th and above Size 5)
  • A WWPSA Uniform, either from last year or from the Uniform Pickup on September 12th Opening Day. The uniform is made up of both a Green and White jersey with the same number, Shorts and socks that must cover the shin guards
  • Eyeglass straps (if they wear glasses)
  • Mouthpieces and athletic supporters are optional
What is the Schedule for Opening Day on Saturday 12th September ?
  • All Players will need to go to Duck Pond Park at their specific times. No exceptions!

  • Play / Scrimmage will be run by Proactive Sports and not the Coaches

What if my child cannot make the opening day session ?
  • We will handle on a case by case basis.
What day and time will my child practice ?
  • Your coach will contact you with this info as soon as Sept 13th or 14th.
Where do I need to go starting Sept 19th for the regular season?
  • Games will be played at various locations based on age group.
  • This is subject to change as necessary.
  • To view the locations for your League, please visit the Fall Rec Homepage and select your League in the left hand column.  Here you will find game locations. Prior to September 12th, we anticipate posting the schedules. Shortly after Opening Day, your player will be assigned to a team and you will be able to view the full season schedule in the same location.

When will I know my child’s team and what is happening to get that accomplished?

  • This is our busiest time of the year as we prepare for the fall rec season
  • We need to finalize and find head coaches for all teams from K – 12th grade
  • We need to resolve any conflicts that head coaches might have and finalize the entire League K – 12th Grade schedule.
  • We need to assign players to teams for K and 1st grade based on your requests.
  • While we are working with the League Managers to accomplish this as fast as possible, it is sometimes difficult to get everyone lined up. Hence all the emails in early August. I can only tell you that we will publish information as soon as possible after Opening Day Sept 6th.
  • The Rec League Executive committee along with the WWPSA Leadership will also be working on uniform distribution, background checks, training/kickoff sessions for coaches, Big Brothers and Big Sisters and Referees as well as coordinating Opening Day Activities. We will be very busy!
When do I need to be there starting Sept 19th?
  • A schedule will be published by Opening Day.
  • The season kicks off on Saturday Sept 19th and continues for thru Saturday Nov 21st.
  • Early Games take place between 9:00 am – 11:00 am
  • Later Games take place between 11:00 am – 1:00 pm
  • There is a varying schedule so that, on any given week, you may be scheduled at the earlier or at the later time slot.  It is not possible to request only 9am or only 11am games.
Please Remember:
  • Soccer is a great game for active kids
  • Kids love soccer
  • Parents love their kids
  • We love to coach your kids
  • Sure winning is great...but losing is a learning experience
  • We want the kids to learn. Learning is what life is all about. We learn something from your kids every practice and every game
  • Hopefully when they reflect back years from now they will say the same of their experience with the WWPSA
The rules for game day are these
  • Coaches coach
  • Referees ref (4th Grade and above)
  • Parents Cheer
  • Kids Play
  • It is important that we all recognize these rules...and let the kids play
We look forward to seeing the kids play together and seeing them to do their best for their team while we all watch and enjoy a great game.
