| Rec Fall 2010 K-12th Grade Soccer |
Complete Information & Registration |
| Introduction |
Last year, more than 1,350 Kindergarten through 12th Grade boys and girls from West Windsor and Plainsboro participated in the Fall Youth Recreational soccer program. We look forward to another successful season in 2010 with a bigger Opening Day kickoff tentatively planned for our new Duck Pond Park facility. |
| What Fall Recreational Soccer is About |
Our goal is to deliver a quality soccer experience in a safe environment and, as a result, for players to want to return season after season. In 2010, emphasis will be placed on the formation process for teams with a primary goal of creating equity between teams. Ultimately, at game time, we want all teams to be in a fun and competitive environment. A key starting point is that player abilities are spread evenly between participating teams. Therefore, continuing our initiative from 2008, the Fall 2010 season will begin with an "Opening Day", the primary purpose of which will be to form teams of equal ability from 2nd Grade through the Senior Leagues. Click here to learn more about Opening Day. |
| Registration |
Registration is open all players from West Windsor and Plainsboro. We also welcome non-residents to participate. Registration for the Fall 2010 program is now open. The registration deadline is August 29, 2010. All players are guaranteed a place when registering prior to the deadline. Beginning on August 30th, there is a late fee of $35 and participation is no longer guaranteed. No late fees apply to either Pre-K or Kindergarten leagues, or if your family is new in town. However, there are no other exceptions to the late fee. Register now to avoid disappointment. |

| Player Registration Fee |
The registration fee for K-12 players is $130. Late registration fees of $35 through September 25th apply to all Leagues (except Kindergarten) for registrations received after August 29th. If you need financial assistance, please contact the Director of Recreation Soccer. |
| |
| Recruitment of players onto teams beyond the 4th week of the season is allowed and can only be done in the case of injury or other reasons that a team cannot field a complete team of players for the duration of the season. The players who are asked to play will not have to pay a late fee but the addition must be approved by the Rec Director and League Manager as well as a majority of Head Coaches within the affected League. |
| Uniform Discount - Save $20 |
Should you choose to reuse your uniform (either from Fall 2009 or Spring 2010), you may also select a $20 uniform discount. If you plan to reuse your child’s again, please indicate that you wish to register for the "Fall Rec Uniform Discount", in addition to "Fall Rec Soccer" programs. |
| Player Work Bond |
Starting in Fall 2010, there will be a $75 work bond per registered player (maximum 2 bonds charged per household). As WWPSA relies heavily on its volunteer parents, families that complete service will have their bonds refunded.
A complete description of volunteer roles and the approximate time commitment may be viewed here.
|
| Payments & Mail In Registration |
When registering online, the preferred method of payment is by credit card. If needed, you can also pay by check, but your registration is not considered complete until we receive your check; only then will your child’s space in the program be ensured. |
| Check Payments |
Checks should be made payable to WWPSA and mailed to us at: WWPSA, PO Box 757, Princeton Junction, NJ 08550. |
| Refund Policy |
There will be a $10 service fee deducted for all refunds. Refunds may be requested until two weeks after the program begins. |
| Teams & Leagues |
All players registered by August 29, 2010 are guaranteed a place on a team. Teams are formed and play games against each other within Leagues that are based on gender and grade. 2010 Leagues will be the same as in 2009 which will be as follows: |

| Girls 5th/ 6th Grade |
| Girls Intermediate (7th/8th Grades) |
| Girls Senior (9th thru 12th Grades) |
| Boys Leagues |
Boys Kindergarten |

| Boys 4th Grade |

| Boys 6th grade |

| Team Formation |
Kindergarten and 1st Grade teams will be formed prior to Opening Day. All other teams will be formed and announced only after Opening Day (August 28th) and prior to the first weekend of scheduled games. |
| Head coaches will be selected from the candidates who volunteer prior to August 28th and beyond as necessary. League Managers will form teams using player ratings above buddy requests. The individual player ratings will determine the team impact ratings. The league managers will work with Head Coaches who volunteer before the August 28th deadline to decide the league format. The League managers have the discretion of totally re-assigning players or of keeping teams together from previous years as long as the majority of teams agree. This is to allow coaches to maximize player development by coaching the same players over a number of years. Teams in the 5th grade and above will have a playoff at the end of the year. |
| Game Rules & Formats |
Leagues will adhere to the WWPSA Modified Laws of the Game. Please visit the Fall Rec Homepage and select the appropriate League to review those modified rules. |
- Have as near equal playing time as possible compared to other players on the same team.
|
- Be given the opportunity to play in each position but will not be forced to play in a position, with the exception that no player will be allowed to play only one position of their choice. Our goal is to teach all players how to play multiple positions.
|
| Jewelry & Hard Casts |
Jewelry of any kind (including small studs and metal hair clips) and hard casts may not be worn during practices or games. Players with recently pierced ears cannot participate until the earrings can be removed, so plan accordingly -- either get ears pierced long enough before the season starts to allow them to be removed for the first practice, OR wait until after the season is completed. |
| Uniforms NEW: |
Each player who pays the complete $130 fee will receive a uniform (team shirt, shorts and socks) to keep. These uniforms may be used again in Rec programs in future seasons. A $20 discount will be provided for future programs when you choose to reuse your uniform. Uniforms will be distributed on Opening Day. It is possible that two or more players on the same team may have the same uniform number. For anyone who has a current uniform, but needs to purchase one item (for example to replace a lost shirt), there will be an opportunity to do so at the Uniform collection. |

WWPSA will conduct a background check based on the information provided unless the volunteer coach has been checked within the prior four (4) years. Coaches are also required to attend a mandatory coaches clinic. |
| Sponsors |
We appreciate the generosity of the businesses and people that sponsored teams last year. Please support them. If you or your business is interested in sponsoring a recreational team this year, please click here. |
| Parking |
Please bear the safety of the players in mind. We ask that you DRIVE SLOWLY and only park, stop or drop off players in the designated parking lots and areas and walk the players to the fields. Specifically we require that you do not park, stop or stand on the side of any road in the Sarnoff Complex or on the side of South Post Road when accessing Conover Field. Pets Please do not bring dogs or other pets to the fields for practices or games. |
| Weather Cancellations |
Please check our website (www.wwpsa.org) for game or group training session cancellations due to inclement weather or other park closures. Cancellations will be announced by 8:00 am for Saturday games and by 3:00 pm for weekday group training sessions. Each team will have a phone chain to communicate team practice cancellations and, at its discretion, game cancellations. |
Weather Cancellation Policy NEW: The Fall Recreational Soccer Weather Cancellation Policy with work as follows: |
| The decision to cancel due to weather will be made by the Director of Recreational Soccer, unless, all WWPSA fields have already been closed for ALL activities by the Executive Director. |
The decision to cancel will be made based on two factors (a) the condition of the fields immediately prior to the event and/ or (b) the weather forecast at the time of the event. |
For Saturday morning games, the decision to cancel will be made and posted at www.wwpsa.org no later than 8am. For Monday and Wednesday midweek evening group training sessions, the decision will be made no later than 3pm. |
For Saturdays, the decision will be made separately for two age-ranges as follows: (a) Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd Grades and (b) 3rd Grades and older. We anticipate, in the event of very cold weather, we may decide to cancel events for the youngest ages while retaining the possibility to continue with scheduled games for older age groups. |
