WWPSA’s new soccer complex at Duck Pond Park has been up and running since September of 2009. Located off of Meadow Road across the street from the Toll Brothers Mews at Princeton Junction development, Duck Pond Park has two maximum-dimension full-sized soccer fields and 2 small sided fields, with room for parking and future permanent shelter and bathroom facilities similar to those at West Windsor Community Park. View the original Duck Pond Park Plan and the planned configuration in Fall 2009.
The entire facility is lit by state-of-the-art permanent lighting that uses modern lamps to reduce light spillage while producing enough light to safely host any activity or event for any age players. In this way, WWPSA hopes to eliminate our dependence on portable lights which are: 1) expensive to service; 2) frequently breaking down due to misuse; and 3) noisy and harmful to the environment. We believe that we will not only save thousands of dollars each year by no longer utilizing portable lights, but we also will be able to sell the portable light towers we own to fund future facilities projects. We obtained financing through the U.S. Soccer Foundation to affordably finance the project and minimize the impact on our annual cash flow.
In Spring 2010 we continue to work to develop the fields, including seeding and top dressing and the removal of stones that have surfaced over the winter freeze and thaw cycles. We look to have volunteers help us finish the final steps of making these fields as high as quality as our other club locations.
To memorialize the project, we’ve created a photo journal of the development at Duck Pond Park, so we hope you enjoy it and gain a sense for the magnitude of the project to bring this facility on line. (Click any photo to see the full-sized image.)
