Field Improvements Enter New Phase
Updated September 2008

Following the 2006 initiative which included the introduction of a high quality "game-only" field at West Windsor Community Park (WWCP) and additional field surface improvements at WWCP and Conover, WWPSA has now entered into a new phase of field and facility development.

After three months of work, WWPSA has largely completed a major renovation project at Conover Park which includes the following key components:

  • Complete regrade and installation of new sod on the practice field with permanent lights (FS #1) - Completed
  • Installation of irrigation on three (3) soccer fields (FS #1, FS #2 and SS #1) - Completed
  • Installation of a new gate at the North Post Road Parking Lot  - Completed
  • Significant soil repair, seeding and fertilization on FS #3 (Great Lawn) eliminating the uneven playing surface and solving significant player safety issues - Completed
  • Removal of old permanent frames from former FS #1, now SS #1 - Completed
  • Replacement of the permanent goal frames on FS #1 with portable frames - Completed
  • The addition of portable goal frames on SS #2 - Completed
  • Additional of 2 new light poles and fixtures and replacement of existing fixtures to significantly upgrade the lights on FS #2 and eliminate the use of portable lights - Completed

The newly sodded soccer field may be configured as a full-sided or small-sided soccer field and will be available for quality lit practices and evening games.  The addition of this field is another step toward our goal of eliminating the use of temporary diesel portable light towers.

Additional plans, in conjunction with West Windsor Township, include the installation of a permanent fence along the gravel roadway within the park, allowing space for head-in parking but eliminating the excessive parking and traffic problems at the field which have recently caused significant field erosion.  This will also help control traffic flow and create a safer environment for our children crossing the road.

We appreciate your patience as these improvement are completed.
