Cosmos defeat Wasps 5-2
Oh how the mighty have fallen!

In a stunning victory, the WWPSA Cosmos defeated the WWPSA Wasps 5-2 in a post-holiday scrimmage at Plainsboro Community Park on Sunday Nov 28, 2010.  Struggling to recover from tryptophan induced food comas and too much pumpkin pie, both teams struggled to produce full squads. In the spirit of goodwill and overconfidence, Wasps lent the Cosmos Paul Moorcroft, their top scorer, for the first half although both teams agreed that Paul added little to the match when all was said and done.

The Cosmos defense, anchored by Robin Dean and Darrell Godfrey did a great job of reducing the number of quality scoring opportunities for the Wasps while Captains Pedro Portilla and Tibor Teleky controlled the middle and distributed the ball well.  The Wasps defense of Nick Potenza, Carey Potash, Andre Maglione, and Jay Liu also played well denying possession in the attacking third for most of the game.  However, the Cosmos striker served up a difficult combination of size, strength, and skill that were difficult to counter.  The Wasps midfield of Ryan Barna, Abdel Laoui, and Vince Hon worked well with strikers Ben Letson and Gokhan Atligan in controlling the middle and setting up chances, but the tight defending by the Cosmos defensive line and keeper were formidable.

Congratulations to the Cosmos on a game well played and well won!
